Agitation For End To Rape Through Social Media,Digital Advocacy, Must Be Intensified-Digital Literacy Advocacy Club
Following reported Rape case in Nigeria especially Oyo and Edo state, the Digital Literacy Advocacy club has on wednesday June 4 2020 advocated for more measures to tackle the growing menace .
This was contained in a press statement issued by the club and signed by the Abdulwasiu Mujeed, a Multimedia Program Officer at the Club.
The statement noted that while rape and sexual violence has now become more rampant in Nigeria, the the need to leverage on Social media and Digital media platforms for social good by standing against rape through sensitization and awareness has become more important by the day.
"We encourage Nigerians to imbibe using their Social media and Digital media platforms for social good by standing against rape through sensitization and constant awareness" the statement read
The club also which advocates for Digital literates in the African society also promised that it would continue to use its advocacies to encourage Nigerians to leverage digital platforms as tool against rape and sexual violence.
"We stand against rape at DLA club and will use our advocacies to also encourage Nigerians to leverage Digital platforms against Rape and sexual violence" the statement read in part.
The Digital literacy advocacy club is an initiative of the Techmirror Magazine. The club organizes programs, trainings and sensitization aimed at ensuring acceptance of Digital literacy by Africans and aimed at Global development.
