Why I am best fit for ISOC Public Relations Officer Role- Ali Sabo

Dear amazing members of the Internet Society, I am writing to express my interest in the position of Public Relations Officer of this great chapter.

Let me begin by appreciating the efforts put by the electoral screening committee, who worked day and night to ensure this process is transparent, free, fair, and just. Thank you for the timely delivery of the assignment given to you. Also, thanks to the amazing members of the ISOC Nigerian Chapter for their cooperation, patience, and support given to the committee members.

You guys are wonderful! My name is Ali Sabo, a graduate of Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano, currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Public Relations from the same university.

I am a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Certified Public Relations Practitioner, Fellow of the First Nigerian School on Internet Governance Forum, Fellow, West African School on Internet Governance (2022), Fellow, Nigerian Network of Facilitators of the United States Institute of Peace, and I have been a member of this great chapter for more than six years. I am currently the Campaigns and Communication Officer of my organization, Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD). CITAD is one of the leading ICT organizations in Nigeria, and being at the forefront of the organization’s media campaign and advocacy, I have led many successful media campaigns for the organization and advocated to key stakeholders in the country in the area of ICT.

I don’t want to overwhelm you with too much information, however, considering my area of specialization, experience, and my skills, I believe I am the best candidate for this position. If elected for this position,

I will focus my energy and skills on:

i. Ensuring the reach of the ISOC is expanded using different available media at our disposal. ii. Assisting in transforming the ICT sector in the country in a way that it will work for everyone iii. Concentrating my efforts on the campaign for affordable internet in Nigeria iv. Leading the campaign and advocacy for the passage and enacting laws that will protect the rights of the citizens in the internet, such as Digital Rights and Freedom Bill.

All of the above would be done in collaboration with other elected members and your support. I am now presenting my humble self to you for this position. Together, we can we can all FIGHT for the “Internet We Want” Sincerely, Ali Sabo
